The Walk: Starting from the car park at Littlehampton East Beach, the walk goes along the shore to the Canadian Memorial on Worthing sea front, returns to Littlehampton by bus, and walks along the Arun River back to the start.
Map
NB The map shows my GPS track, with various diversions and excursions which you may not wish to follow precisely.
Why do it: Striking architecture of East Beach Cafe designed by Thomas Heatherwick. Surprisingly sandy beach to walk on at low tide. Sedate 'greensward' along the sea fronts at Angmering, Ferring and Goring. Stately promenade at Worthing. Promenade along the River Arun, with boats coming and going to Littlehampton Harbour.

Distance: 7 miles East Beach to Worthing, plus 1 mile along the Arun = 8 miles total
Logistics: Park in the East Beach car park (charge - off season, you may find free street parking nearby). Walk to the bus stop at the Canadian War Memorial at Worthing. Get the bus back to Littlehampton bus station and walk back to East Beach along the Arun promenade.
Challenges: It's nice to vary the route by using the beach where possible. The upper beach is pebbles and shingle, and the walk will be best at low tide to make the most of the surprisingly large area of firmer sand exposed in the intertidal zone. The beach has regular breakwaters which must be scrambled over, which is easier at low tide since the seaward end of the breakwaters is generally lower. It's easy to revert to the official path.
Refreshments: Iconic East Beach Cafe; Bluebird Cafe, Ferring; Sea Lane Cafe, Goring-by-Sea
