Walk Geography

The Walk : In my previous walk , I got as far as East Tilbury Station. In this walk, I continued along the England Coast Path (ECP) to Pitsea Station, taking in a circuit of the Mucking Marshes (reclaimed after land fill), the Essex Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre at the Thameside Nature Park, the Stanford Wharf and RSPB Vange Marsh Nature Reserves and Fobbing Marsh (notable for the Fobbing Horse Moveable Flood Barrier). The gantries of the DP World London Gateway container port provide a backdrop for much of the walk, dramatic or satanic, according to your taste. Crane gantries, London Gateway Port

Mersea Island Circumambulation, Essex (13 miles)

The Walk : Walk the England Coast Path all the way around the coast of Mersea Island. Tidal causeway road. Boats and quaint fishermen's cottages at West Mersea. Marsh, mud and oysters along the Strood and Pyefleet Channels. Airy views across the Colne Estuary from the Mersea Stone sand spit. Sandy beaches with jaunty huts along the Blackwater Estuary shore. Views across to the Bradwell nuclear power station and wind farm. Watch the sunset from a waterside pub. Sunset over the Strood

Purfleet to Grays along the Thames (7 miles)

This quirky walk follows the Northern shore of the Thames passing under the Queen Elizabeth II 'M25' Bridge. The journey is full of interest, with industrial sites, oil depots, and jetties on one side, and views across and along the river on the other.
